Fit Test Training
According to
Singapore Standards (SS 548 : 2009, fit testing is
required at least once annually and can be conducted by
the manufacturer or manufacturer-accredited
representatives. We will be able to provide you with
their trainer badges for your documentation.
A fast, easy
method for performing qualitative fit testing. Can be
used with any particulate respirator or any gas and
vapor respirator with a particulate prefilter. Helps
satisfy respiratory program requirements. Can be used
during respirator training. Convenient, reliable, and
economical to use. The fit test works by spraying a
sweet or bitter solution into the hood environment. If
the wearer does not detect the test agent's taste, an
acceptable fit has been demonstrated.
What is
the penalty if the user does not change the gas & vapor
filters?
Assuming
worker is instructed on proper change-out schedule,
“failure to use PPE or misuse of any safety appliance”
could potentially incur a fine of S$1000 for the first
conviction or S$2000 for the second conviction.
How long
can the gas & vapor filters be used after opening?
According to
SS 548 : 2009, filter change-out schedule shall be
established and replaced on a regular basis in
accordance with gas or vapor filter replacement
schedule. All classes of gas or vapor filter shall be
discarded no longer than 6 months after opening,
irrespective of the periods of use. |
